CLINICS

Baby Vaccination Clinic

This is held every Tuesday between 10.45am and 12.40pm.

Asthma Clinic

All patients with asthma or COPD must attend every six months for a review. Appointments can be made in advance but may be subject to change.

Diabetic Clinic

All patients with diabetes must attend for a review every six months. Appointments can be made in advance but may be subject to change.

Family Planning

All the doctors and nurses can provide contraceptive care and advice during surgery hours, by appointment. An appointment for a coil fit can be made up to 10 days in advance and requires a double appointment with Dr Iles and the nurse.

Stop Smoking Clinic

We can offer an appointment to any patient who wishes to give up smoking. Practice nurse Janet Wright runs this clinic for which appointments can be made in advance.

Well Woman Clinic

We encourage all women between the ages of 25 and 49 years to have a cervical smear every three years those women aged 50 to 65 years to have a smear every five years, which can be carried out by our practice nurses.

Screening

Patients aged 45 and over are encouraged to have a vascular screening check. An appointment can be made with the practice nurses for a blood pressure and weight check and a blood test may also be arranged.

Senior Patients

Any patient aged 75 and over who has not been seen in the last 12 months should make an appointment with one of the practice nurses for an annual check-up. If you are housebound, there is a domiciliary nurse available for regular visits.

Minor Surgery

The doctors regularly carry out minor surgical procedures at the surgery's afternoon clinic by appointment only. There is sometimes a waiting list for these procedures and no minor surgery will be performed in busy periods.

Non-NHS Examinations

The doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg, insurance and driving licence, by appointment. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment and to find out the charges for these private services. These appointments are not available during busy periods.

Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations

Please make an appointment at least eight weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover.

A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is available at reception.

Vaccinations cannot be arranged at short notice. Nor can we usually provide those required for multiple destinations.

Yellow fever vaccination cannot be given at this surgery. It is, however, available from either of the following:

Flu Vaccination

An annual influenza vaccination is strongly recommended for all patients over 65 years of age. It is also strongly recommended for all patients with heart or kidney disease and those with asthma, chronic bronchitis or diabetes as well as those in nursing or residential homes. The vaccine is free of charge.

Please contact the reception staff in early September for details of when the vaccination clinics will be held.

Pneumonia Vaccination

It is strongly recommended that every patient over the age of 65 years has a pneumonia vaccination. The vaccine is also strongly recommended for all patients with heart or kidney disease and those with asthma, chronic bronchitis or diabetes as well as those in nursing or residential homes. The vaccine is free of charge and, according to current advice, need only be given once in a lifetime.
